Description
Night Music lives in the realm of the imagination, but with real people and places: Australia, Scotland, Russia, Galway, Afghanistan, the Med. We encounter Akhmatova, Forbes, Yeats, W.S. Graham, the Tarot, cats, Rastas, Taoism and Hades, Bartok and Sandy Evans, Auden and Mingus. People play the piano, fire guns, get grilled at the border, paddle canoes, set limpet mines, eat, love, dream, and talk to the dead. The language of these poems meditates and jives, raves and glitters, teases and grieves, about life itself and the ultimate subject – the life of the imagination.
