Description
As a young Australian, freshly abroad, Kevin Palmer impulsively and successfully auditioned for the acting course at the Webber-Douglas Drama Academy in South Kensington, London—thus beginning a most productive and interesting international theatrical career. In France, the USA, Canada, Iceland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and Australia, he worked on over fifty major theatrical productions, including—as the legendary Joan Littlewood’s assistant director/production manager—the innovative, prize-winning “Oh What a Lovely War”, in London and New York.
In London’s West End, he worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company; in Reykjavik, with Iceland’s National Theatre. Returning to Australia during Don Dunstan’s time as Premier of South Australia, he served as the Artistic Director and Production Manager for the State Theatre Company, and the Festival Centre. In Sydney, he was Head of the Technical Production Course at National Institute of Dramatic Art. And for the last twenty years of his career he owned Kevin Palmer Management, a respected Sydney drama agency. He and his partner are retired and live in Bangalow 2479.
This is his life.
