Presents 24 selected Australian jewellery artists spanning 30 years of jewellery making in Australia. This book of 2 generations of jewellers was in response to an invitation to have an exhibition of Australian jewellery at Galerie Handwerk in Munich in 2010. It includes essays considering some of the meanings of jewellery as object and bearer of cultural and historical meaning in Australia. The jewellery artists abbreviated biographies are included.

Robert Baines has profoundly shaped Australian jewellery, object-making and international historical scholarship. His works challenge our conception of the world as much as they delight with their technical brilliance. Baines is an exhibiting artist-goldsmith and his work is held in many prestigious collections across the globe, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Musee des Arts Dé coratifs, Paris; Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg; and the National Gallery of Australia. An emeritus professor at RMIT University, Baines also teaches gold and silversmithing.
Baines’s publications include: Partyline (RMIT Press, 2004); Treasure room Australia – Schatzkammer Australien (ASP, 2009); More Amazing Schmuck Stories (ASP, 2010); and Australian Jewellery Topos (ASP, 2010).
