The Library of the Supreme Court of Victoria was founded in 1853. Its founder was Sir Redmond Barry K.B., K.C.M.G., a judge of the Supreme Court and a bibliophile. Barry’s interest in books prompted his close and leading involvement in the creation of libraries and other major public institutions for the new, thriving Colony of Victoria.
