Lost in the Mists: Leslie Russell Blake, Mawson’s Cartographer and Hero of Pozières

By Herbert J.G. Dartnall

Leslie Russell Blake served on Mawson’s 1911–14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition as a cartographer and geologist. His brilliant surveying and mapping produced an accurate topographic map of Macquarie Island, an outstanding achievement despite difficult conditions. His cartographic skills earned him a Military Cross in his brief World War I career. Lost in the Mists is based on his diaries, letters and photographs, enhanced with modern illustrations and additional information, including short biographies of all AAE members.

Featuring over 160 colour and black and white photographs.
